There are generally three different ways that memory recall is studied:
1. Free recall refers to the ability to remember items in any order. An example would be remembering your grocery list. As long as you can remember each item, you are successful.
2. Serial recall applies to remembering items in order. Examples would be memorizing a speech or remembering driving directions to someone's house. Not only do you need to remember each item, but the order matters too. Naturally, this is more difficult than free recall.
3. Paired associate recall defines the type of recall where you are given the first word and must remember the second. Learning foreign language vocabulary is a good example. The benefit of this type of recall is that it is aided. In other words, you are given a clue to jog your memory.
When you are trying to learn something, you should identify which type of recall you will be required to demonstrate. This should affect how you study the material.
A professor stood before his philosophy class and had some items in front of him. When the class began, wordlessly, he picked up a very large and empty mayonnaise jar and proceeded to fill it with golf balls. He then asked the students if the jar was full.
They agreed that it was.
So the professor then picked up a box of pebbles and poured them into the jar. He shook the jar lightly. The pebbles rolled into the open areas between the golf balls. He then asked the students again if the jar was full.
They agreed it was.
The professor next picked up a box of sand and poured it into the jar. Of course, the sand filled up every! thing else. He asked once more if the jar was full.
The students responded with a unanimous "yes."
The professor then produced two cups of coffee from under the table and poured the entire contents into the jar, effectively filling the empty space between the sand. The students laughed. "Now," said the professor, as the laughter subsided, "I want you to recognize that this jar represents your life.
The golf balls are the important things -- your family, your children, your health, your friends, and your favorite passions-- things that if everything else was lost and only they remained, your life would still be full.
The pebbles are the other things that matter like your job, your house, and your car.
The sand is everything else -- the small stuff."
"If you put the sand into the jar first," he continued, "there is no room for the pebbles or the golf balls. The same goes for life. If you spend all your time and energy on the small stuff, you will never have room for things that are important to you. Pay attention to the things that are critical to your happiness.
There will always be time to clean the house, and fix the disposal. Take care of the golf balls first, the things that really matter. Set your priorities. The rest is just sand."
One of the students raised her hand and inquired what the coffee represented.
The professor smiled. "I'm glad you asked," he said. "It just goes to show you that no matter how full your life may seem, there's always room for a cup of coffee with a friend."

I'm a fan of World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE). I know some (or most) of it is a false game, which might be predetermined. But I like those stunts and the guys who put their life at risk.
Of all Stars some them I would wonder and love to see are John Cena, RVD, Sabu, Tommy Dreamer, Batista, Chris Benoit, Rey Mysterio, Hulk Hogan, The Undertaker & Kane (Brothers of Distruction) and Shawn Michaels & Triple H (D Generation X).
All the DX matches will be filled with fun and I love to watch all those DX matches. But when it comes to rivaliry, DX is brutal and worse than any one the the WWE business.
Recently one half of DX, Triple H got his knee injured in a brutal match. After that HBK Shawn Michales prooved that DX never back up in a Handicap 2 on 1 match.
This picture explains the brutality he showed during the match.
But still... as one among millions of DX fans, hats off to the Icon HBK Shawn Michaels... the guy who proved that he and DX never backs up from challenges.
Brain Teaser : Watchman
Once there was a night watchman who had been caught several times sleeping on the job. The boss issued the final warning. On the next night he was caught with his head on his hand and his elbows on the desk.
"Aha, I've caught you again," exclaimed the boss. The watchman's eyes popped open immediately and he knew what had happened. Being a quick thinking man, he said one word before looking up at the boss. The boss apologized profusely and went home. What was the one word?
